The Scindia School , situated on the hill fortress of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, is a residential school for boys. The late Maharaja Madhavrao Jayaji Rao Scindia of Gwalior founded it in 1897. It was originally located within the city of Gwalior, but was shifted to the Gwalior Fort around the turn of the century. The School eventually became a public residential school for boys under the headmastership of Mr. F G Pearce. Since then the school has grown in scale and scope of work and in reputation it now occupies an extensive estate of about 110 acres. The school offers a rich variety of activities and opportunities for many side growths and draws boys from various parts of the country. It also enjoys a recognized all India status.
Away from the din and noise of the city and yet only fifteen-minute drive into it from the hilltop, picturesque landscape and a vast area to surround the school, forming its campus. The entire campus gets covered with green lush green during rains; with trees all around, the campus presents a unique atmosphere and ideal educational environment for students and teachers for all round development. It is three hundred feet above the level of the town.

There are twelve Houses; four for juniors and eight for seniors, and the total strength of students is approximately 600. -
The Academic Year is divided into 2 terms: Diwali Term (July to November) and Holi Term (January to April). These are interspersed with summer and winter holidays. -
The school frequently organizes remediation sessions for students with slow learning capacity.

The school has provisions for the following sports: Football, Cricket, Table Tennis, Chess, Hockey, Tennis, Swimming, Rifle Shooting, Basket Ball, Horse Riding and Archery. -
The school has a well-stocked, spacious, well-lit and ventilated library, which houses about 20,000 books on varied subjects. -
The school Tuck-shop allows students to stock up on stationery if they run out of these items in the middle of a term, or during examinations.
